About two months ago I started getting this message when I try and post comments on the WSJ website

            It seems you're attempting to post malformed content.

If I cut the message and then past it back, I get a line added that says

              img {-moz-force-broken-image-icon: 1;}

If I delete this line the comment goes through.

I finally found the solution to my problem, change to Vivaldi as my browser. No more broken image icon messages. No more running script messages. No more being concerned about 'legacy' add-ons. Plus it makes Lastpass and Adblock work better and opens web pages much faster. Bye, bye Mozilla - OUT

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

Hello,

Sorry to see you go. Did some research on that and guess it does not matter anymore. Will say though Comeback and check out Firefox Quantum Version 57 once it is released.

I am glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. If you haven't already, please select the answer that solves the problem. This will help other users with similar problems find the solution more easily. Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support.

Re: It seems you're attempting to post malformed content. What works for me 100% of the time is to copy your post and then clear the original. Paste your comment and if you scroll down just a bit, you'll see ' img {-moz-force-broken-image-icon: 1;}. Delete that and click 'post' , submit or whatever the site uses. Bingo! Your comment is now posted. Pain in the butt, but it works.

Note that this code is part of a style sheet that Firefox adds to the rich text editor to handle broken images. However this text shouldn't show as part of real text since it appears within a STYLE element. This is either a problem with the website that doesn't know about embedded style sheets or some other software is converting the style sheet to become part of message text.

You can see this style sheet information if you right-click in the editor area and open the builtin Inspector.
