how do I disable AdChoices from Mac?
There are three other questions about how to get rid of AdChoices, but they deal with Windows.
How about for Mac?
I (stubbornly) run 10.8.5 on a Macbook Pro.

Is this something that appears on webpages unexpectedly? If they aren't ads that the site designed into the page, the problem usually is either:
- an extension
- a proxy or other intermediary between Firefox and the site
The first is easier to investigate: You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

There are no extensions (already tried that.)
The add-ons look OK also.
I ran MalwareBytes, no luck.
Is this something that a particular website has, and I'm stuck with it when I'm on that site? I'm somewhat resigned to the ads there (it's a free site, and there isn't an alternative that I like), but this one keeps suddenly doing audio, and the site admin isn't aware of it.
To add, I was hoping to kill the thing off entirely. I'm certainly not the only person with this problem if you Google "remove adchoices"
If you search for any irritation on the web, there are dozens of sites hawking paid cleaning software. Please don't trust that as an indication that there's anything on your computer that actually needs to be cleaned.
Can you post a link to a page where you see it (family friendly only)?
