Is there a search engine that can search only within the currently viewed site, from the search bar?

just like you can do a google search and add, for example, "site:support.mozilla.org", and google will only search inside support.mozilla.org, I want to type my query inside the search bar and do a google search within the site I'm currently viewing.

this function was available in the old Google Toolbar, many moons ago...

hope that makes sense.

Thanks!

R

Found this add-on that does what I need:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/search-site/

Still, I'd prefer a simple Search Engine instead of an add-on, that would integrate with the search bar like all other search engines...

That add-on is all there is to do what you want.

The search engine plugins that integrate into the search bar accept one parameter, which is the text you want to search. That text can include the target site -- that is:

bookmarks site:support.mozilla.org

-- but you still need some kind of add-on to inject that additional search term if you don't want to type it yourself. It's not possible for a search engine plugin (basically, a URL with an icon attached) to grab that automatically.

Thanks! I'll use the add-on.
