After an hour and a half of going around in circles, I am apparently registered and logged in. Don't ask how I did it--I don't know?

So here is the original issue I was trying to ask on mozilla forums:

Running Firefox 47.0.1 under Windows 7

Tools => Options => General => Downloads Set: Save files to: C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Active Files\Downloads

But files saved to: C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Chris-Files\Active Files\Downloads [old folder structure which was deleted a year ago] I obviously set up this folder structure a few couple of years ago and saved it in Firefox as the download folder.

Have set and reset "Save files to", with no change. Done several times.

Have closed all instances of Firefox and restarted, with no change.

The problem is probably something obvious, but I can't figure it out.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
