autocomplete not working
I've tried everything. My settings are fine but Autocomplete won't work. It gets kind of annoying having to type web addresses all the time.

Have you done with this step ?
- In the URL/Location bar go to: about:config
- Search and then Double click on Browser.urlbar.default.behavior
- Enter a value of 33
- Close and restart the browser.
Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing": Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History,Bookmarks,History and Bookmarks
browser.urlbar.default.behavior is no longer supported, so you won't find this pref. You can reset this pref via the right-click context menu to the default value if you have it.
You can check these prefs on the about:config page and make sure that they have the default value.
- browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled
- browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
If you want auto-fill to work then see these autoFill prefs well:
- browser.urlbar.autoFill
- browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed
I've tried everything on here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-doesnt-save-web-form-entries#w_autocomplete-doesnt-work-on-any-forms
and checked the about:config settings recommended above (see screen shot).
Why won't autocomplete work then?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Re: Places Maintenance and repairing the places.sqlite database - is this necessary? Is it likely to make autocomplete work?
Could someone join me on Skype to talk me through troubleshooting this to get to the bottom of it and fix it, as people are talking about complex ways of doing it and I'm overly techy (though I'm not a novice).
