Select(ctrl+a/double click/left click and drag) deletes the content in text box of thunderbird

I have been happy with thunderbird on my ubuntu 14.04 64bit until today i find somehow when i tried to select text to copy it, instead of highlight the text, whatever supposed to be highlighted was deleted. Everything in thunderbird text box including configuration field, sent to address, mail content is experiencing this problem. My other applications don't have this issue. It drives me crazy today and i even tried other options for linux email client such as evolution and still have to go back to thunderbird because I think it is much better, but someone please help me out of this trouble. Thanks!

I just found out the culprit or the trigger of the problem. it is the ibus-pinyin input method I am using. There is a bug report describing the issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1138159

Switch to english input(not english mode in ibus-pinyin) is the workaround, but it is still a problem when i write email in chinese. I wonder why i didn't encounter this problem earlier, could it be other upgrade causing a regression of the issue?
