To stop your browser from updating automatically, follow these steps: On the top right of your browser select the menu button, this is characterized by three horizontal lines. Click on this button and find the options menu, it will look like a gear or a wheel. Once you've selected "options" a series of menus will show up on the left side of your screen, you should see one entitles "general" and so forth. Click on the "advanced" menu. At the top you will see several options from "general" to "certificates." You want to select the "update" option. There will be a section devoted to updating Firefox. You probably have the automatic update box checked, uncheck this and select "check for updates but let me choose whether to install them." Close your browser to save your changes and reopen. Automatic updates should now be disabled.

I've done that but Firefox continues to ask me about 5 times do I want to update, then the next time it goes ahead and does it!

I want to know how to stop this incessant message too. When I find a version that works I don't want to update it because the update keeps freezing the browser. I want to know how to get back the version that was working and how to stop the update message.
