bp-0f555e72-2bc6-47d5-9645-3e8682150629 Firefox Crashes on my own web site, http://donsongs.com/. When clicking on my mp3 music links, on the Album Pages. Also on several other Video Web Sites. Such as this one, http://weather.climate25.com/project/nicky-sundt/. This only happens in my Fedora 14 Linux System. And has been going on, for the last month or more. Both Firefox 38.0.5 and Firefox Developers Addition, Crash, when I access these files. I have no problems in Fedora 20 or 21, in my other Systems. I keep Flash and Java up to Date. I've tested, this with all Plugins set to "Ask to Activate". And with VLC - Totem and OpenH264, set to 'Always Active", as well as other variations. This makes no difference. I have also tested this in Firefox Safe Mode, with no change. The Crashes still happen. I wanted to ask, and see if you have any other ideas. Before I try doing a "Firefox Refresh". I don't want to have to start over and Reinstall everything, if I can fix this...

Thanks,

Don

Firefox will try to plays MP3s natively, without a plugin, using Gstreamer. Looking at the "crashing thread" in the report you linked, Firefox seems to be trying to do that when it crashes.

If Firefox's Gstreamer implementation isn't compatible with that version of Fedora, you probably can disable it using a preference in about:config. As a Windows user, I don't know exactly what to look for, but I can see the source code contains one called media.gstreamer.enabled that you could toggle to false and see whether that helps.

Thanks, that did the trick. I disabled the Gstreamer Player and it's Blacklist. After that. Firefox asked if I wanted to use VLC Embed Media Player. I "allowed VLC". Now, both mp3s and the problem videos are playing just fine. VLC is what I wanted to use, in the first place. But, I completely forgot. About using the "about:config" Settings Page. And it seems, that this setting can't be done. On the Firefox Plugins Page. Or at least, I could not find it...

Thanks again,

Don
