How do I move the trash file, I installed Tbird on d: HD, but trash file was created on c: SSD ?

I installed Thunderbird on normal hard drive D:, however Thunderbird went ahead and created the trashed emails folder on my SSD C: I don't want to use the C: SSD for this, how do I go about moving it to D: in a way Thunderbird can still find and use it ?

The move directions in the link you gave don't appear to be strictly correct. The path on my Win 8.1 laptop to find Profiles.ini includes "roaming", as in \appdata\roaming\Thunderbird\

In any case I copied the contents of the path to the D: drive , changed isRelative to = 0 and renamed the .default profile on the C: drive. Thunderbird still works so I'm assuming it has been moved correctly.

The executable (etc) and the data store are separate; the location of one doesn't necessarily affect the other.

As with most programs that ask you to confirm the path they are about to install to, I simply changed the c:\blahblah to become D:\blahblah and then hit next, continue, or what ever the install program's proceed button is.

OK, so that would have installed the executable (program) on the designated drive. The data store would still have gone to wherever your AppData is. On the face of it, it would seem sensible to put executables on the SSD for speed of loading, and AppData etc on the HDD where read/write cycles are better tolerated by the hardware.

I would expect Windows to offer an option to set the preferred drive for the Users folder, which incorporates the AppData folders.
