Something a bit more specific than "Firefox won't work" would be more helpful.

If you are having a problem with Firefox, This is the place to come to.

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

The error message you try to show was from Windows and it said something like "Firefox has stopped running" and asks if you want to stop the program or let it continue.

If you can give better details of what happens, trouble shooting would be easier. I am going to give you a list of things to do.

  • First, we want to start Firefox in safe mode.

Safe Mode is a special Firefox mode that can be used to troubleshoot and fix problems. Safe Mode temporarily resets some settings and disables add-ons that might be causing problems.

Shut down Firefox. Hold down the Shift key (On Mac the Options key) then start Firefox. This will make Firefox start in Safe Mode

If, as we go along you run into trouble or have a question, just ask.

  • Clear the Cache

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Then; Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: Clear Now

  • Remove Cookies

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Then Tools > Options > Privacy.

Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. There is a button on the right side called Show Cookies. In the next window, on the bottom, press the Remove All Cookies.

  • Use Hardware Acceleration

This sometimes causes problems, so me are going to turn it off.

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar.. Then Tools > Options > Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Now then, while we are in Safe mode, we are going to try some web sites.

Start with Google.com. Did it load okay, any problems?

Now try Bing.com. Any problems here?

If you want to try, restart Firefox. Then poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem.

Let us know how you are doing.
