My bookmarks and settings are so messed up. I am frustrated as I am working on a project, and the browser no longer has the functionality it had before. I am considering switching to another browser in the next couple of days unless it is repaired.

This is the 2nd time in a month that I got up to go online and Firefox was gone, disappeared. Had to re-download and start over from scratch, no saved bookmarks or pictures, all gone. What is going on, and how to restore my original Firefox with all my info? Is it possible now that I have downloaded yet again Firefox 11? I supposedly imported fro google account, yet everything is gone? What should i do? Thx

I made a boo boo, was half asleep trying to shut down and wanted to quickly save a set of browser tabs to come back to later, so "attempted" to create a folder to save within a nested structure in my bookmarks library (using Ctrl+Shift+O editor). I right clicked and intended to hit 'f' for new folder in the structure, hit 'd' instead (delete). This was on an upper level folder structure of thousands (10's of thousands....?) of bookmarks.

Realised my half asleep mistake and doubled down! Hit Ctrl+Z to undo changes.

Well, I guess FF was struggling to process all of the changes, then got confused with the undo, and broke without performing either... F**K. But ok, I will just restore from a backup, I have those setup.

So I went to 'Import/Backup -> Restore, and picked the latest date. Okayed the warning and waited. It failed, gracelessly, by deleting all my bookmarks, then errored. "Unable to process the backup file." Now I can't restore any of the restore files in the list. The latest one looks broken with almost no data, but all of the earlier ones are there, they exist in the folder structure under AppData, say they have 30,000+ bookmarks, and are all around the 20MB size.

None of these restore.

My only hard HTML backup is from early in the year, March, and that is very old in my activity levels.

Also, why are all of the json files failing?

I've since restarted my PC, slept and come back to the problem awake. Still same problems.

I have gone as far as using the 'Refresh' technique in the uninstall options, and despite everything else coming back from scratch, I still cannot restore my json backup files. They all give the same warning, delete any bookmarks I have added and then error with, "Unable to process the backup file."

Is this something that has happened before? I get I screwed something up, but what could be preventing this from restoring? Are all of the json files now poisoned somehow?

Do I have to do a full uninstall and reinstall and try again? And if that fails, what are my options?

I have backups for a reason, this very reason in fact, so that when I error, I don't delete my life...

Would love some guidance on this, if there is a way to check .json integrity, or anything else pertinent I might have missed, I would appreciate a poke in the right direction.

I have been receiving crash report for several days in a row, finally received Old Firefox Data folder and tried to re-install the app on my Mac. How do I get my tabs back please?

i turned the machine off last night as normal. turned on this morning and you had signed me out... why? i had all the pages open i needed and everything was normal. i eventually after not getting answers else where signed back in after a typing error.. but i cannot restore last nights session what is or was the problem im back in but something doesnt feel right

just added nordvpn to desktop. it made some adjustments and i was no longer able to close fiorefox. eventually uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled as reset would not work . now I have lost muyy old firefox settings and want to reinstall them to my new log in which appears to be a new firefox account

Hello ! Can you help me please ? I have an older account ( [redacted] @ziggo.nl ) and this account has all my backup information and settings. But this account does not work anymore. So when I try to login in Firefox with [redacted] @ziggo.nl , and you send me a confirmation email, I will not reach this message and I can not confirm my e-mailadres. Now I have made a new account ( [redacted] @gmail.com ) so I can login in Mozilla, but I don't have my backup bookmarks. Is there a way that you can send me this information ? Or you copy the bookmarks to my new account ? After that I can delete the older account. Waiting for your reply, Greetings, Daniel

Firefox suddenly became an entirely different browser without me doing anything. It wasn't loading any web pages so I restarted it and it was completely different, and not for the better. All my bookmarks are gone. What the hell did you do?

I had a Firefox account disconnected message when I clicked on the three bars in the upper right corner. Once I resigned in I lost all my passwords. I have copied my profile from another machine that still has the disconnect message, but I have not reconnected since it has all the passwords. I have also uninstalled Firefox and re-installed and copied the profile again. I still have no passwords. I cannot re-connect the other system if I cannot get the profile back. What am I missing?
