The Download window does not display the downloads. How can I get them to display as they download?

Every time I download a file from the internet, the Download page appears but no details of the file I have downloaded. The file does appear on the Desktop.

Goto Tools >Options > Content > change the Application option to "ask me every time "

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Are you using the classic download manager (browser.download.useToolkitUI is true)?

In that case you can check the browser.download.manager.retention pref to see if it has the default value.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": "Remember my browsing and download history"

Thanks Iamjayakumars but my Content window does not have an Application option.

Thanks cor-el but I have never selected private browsing mode and it is not selected now.

You can find Applications here: Tools > Options > Applications

Do you see the downloads in the Downloads holder in the Library (Bookmarks/History Manager)?
