how to download bookmarks from desktop to laptop
I need a simple way to download my bookmarks from my desktop to my laptop. I currently have bookmarks on my laptop. One suggestion given to me was to export the bookmarks to my email address in the form of an attachment than download . When I did that there was only an option to open the file, no download option. Thank you for any assistance.
Chosen solution
There are many ways to accomplish this out of which I am currently explaining two processes:
1) Backing up and Restoring Bookmarks
- Backup your Desktop Bookmarks -> Manual Backup
- Save the json file on your Desktop & Email it to yourself
- Download the attached json file on your Laptop
- Restore Bookmarks from the json file -> Restoring from Backups
2) Firefox Sync
Check and tell if its working.

CAUTION --> "...export the bookmarks..." refers to exporting to an HTML file.
- Importing an HTML file will merge the imported Bookmarks into your existing Bookmarks.
- A JSON file is created differently (via Backup) and Restoring a JSON file will replace all existing Bookmarks on your Laptop.
Save the attachment (the HTML file) to the email received on your laptop to your laptop hard drive.
Then open Firefox on your laptop, and import that HTML file.
- Importing an HTML file will merge the Bookmarks into your existing Bookmarks on your Laptop, which could result in duplicates if you have the same Bookmark(s) on your Desktop and they already exist on your Laptop as well
