I can't get rid of the I-play start up page after doing what oberon instructions, I want the firefox Google page as defalt
I was trying to download a reader for a windows application. Hidden in the download was the I-play junk (I am not a game person). I went to the I-play site and got their instructions and completed them, but the I-play page keeps coming up when I sign on to Firefox. I want the regular Google Firefox start up page as the default.
Chosen solution
If the page appears in a tab when first starting Firefox
- Have you tried to reset your home page? Firefox allows multiple home pages separated by the "|" keyboard character
- See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
If the page appears when entering a word or two in the URL/Location/Address bar, you may need to do the following:
- Reset your Location Bar search engine (if typing a few words in the URL/Location Bar takes you to that search page):
- type about:config in your Location Bar, like typing a web site address, and press the Enter key
- if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
- Filter = keyword.URL
- in lower part of screen, if it is bold and shows "user set", right-click keyword.URL and choose "Reset"
- Filter = i-play
- any items in lower part of screen in bold and showing "user set", right-click and choose "Reset"
- repeat the two prior steps for "oberon"
- close about:config tab
