regarding answers going back to old downloads box, do they also work with ESR 24.4.0

I am using esr 24.4.0. Can I replace the downloads box with something that does not delete things with one click , and.... does not have the left hand panel displayed when looking at downloads (waste of desktop space).

Note that Firefox will still manage the downloads in the new Downloads Manager (Library) that uses the places.sqlite file if you would set browser.download.useToolkitUI to true

ESR 24.4.0 is equivalent to Firefox 24, but it has up-to-date security patches, same as Firefox 28.

If you want to revert back to the downloads window (as opposed to using the downloads panel),

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
  2. Press the big button to bypass the warning.
  3. In the search bar, paste browser.download.useToolkitUI
  4. In the search results, double-click browser.download.useToolkitUI to set its value to false.

The above doesn't work in Firefox 26 and above (and therefore won't work in 31 ESR).
