The download panel window does not ever display anymore, when downloading updates, i.e. Adobe, etc. There is a little notice at the bottom of the screen that says downloads are complete, but then it disappears. I have to manually go to the download folder to look for the update and run it. Very annoying.

I have looked around for a solution, but no one seems to have this problem.

Thanks.

Firefox manages downloads in the Downloads folder in the Library (History > Show All History)

  • Downloads are treated as history items: clearing history removes download items that are part and vice verse.

When a download is in progress then you see an animated download button on the Navigation Toolbar showing an estimate of the remaining time changing into a highlighted Download button once the download has finished to make you aware that new downloads are available.

You can display the new Download Manager in a tab by opening the about:downloads page and consider to open this page in a separate window.

you can use download icon which is on the right side of window to see them instead of going to download folder.

So If I understand correctly, the download panel window will not open anymore, but I will have to click on the arrow on the navigation bar in order to see and execute my downloads?

I guess this was in one of FF's latest updates.

Glad to know.

Thanks.

go here! >>> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#w_disable-virus-scanning-in-firefox-preferences

the firefox automatic virus scanner is preventing your files from opening or working. this will tell you how to turn it off in "about:config". I did it and FINALLY my downloads work!

I have the same exact problem as of yesterday. I have not changed any setting in history or cookies and the problem was not there 2 days ago. Now, without history or cookie changes, I no longer see the downloads, other than in the folder they were sent to and the notification that the download is complete. Note that when I open the downloads, by clicking on the down pointing arrow, "show all downloads" and then the box is blank. As of 2 days ago, this was not the case. I still see progress of the downloads, but they disappear, when the download completes. All I now see is "show all downloads", which opens the white/empty box. Operating system is WIN XP SP3, if that makes a difference. FF vers 23.0 and up to date.

UPdate: Falsified "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone", from it's true setting. It now works fine. Thank you Christinsew42!
