Hi Ideato,

Thank you for your prompt answer. Can you please explain Crash ID. I am relevantly new to Fire Fox.

It was suggested that I try to restart with the Add on disabled. I tried this and it crashed when I tried to re-start. I get a screen come up telling me its crashed and once I quit Fire Fox I can restart it. Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Norman Rabone

Hi Norman,

Click in the blue text link in Ideato's post and it takes you to an article explaining these things.

Basically you key about:crashes into the location bar like you would a web address, and your crash IDs are displayed.

Not sure I understand whether Firefox is crashing when you startit, or when you exit (or sometimes both? )

Hi John99,

Thank you for your reply. The Crash ID is http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-98c05a12-ecf4-44a1-9ff6-f000b2130116.

It crashes when ever I close a web site. Hence when I go to open it will not restore and I have to quit to open FireFox again.

your crash ID related to Norton confidential, try to upgrade Norton to latest version and check it again.

thanks again

Hi Ideato,

Norton has only just been up-graded. Do you have any further thoughts.

Hi Norman, firefox still crashes with 20.0.2.19 Norton version ?

more options

Not sure if there is any information on Norton's own forum. Just today (16th Jan) one of the Mozilla engineers said: (bug783369#c31)

.... we are in communications with Norton and they're looking into the problems.

It would seem it is a continuing but known problem. This should not affect the AntiVirus software, and IIRC there were comments in another thread that any benefits of Norton Confidential were rather speculative, as Firefox itself by default has some Phishing & malware protection

Hi, Thank you both for all your help. It appears that the problem is with the interaction of FireFox and Norton. I will have to wait until they have resolved it. Its more than a little annoying I think I will have to consider reverting to using Internet Explorer.

Kind regards,

Why not just use Firefox, and not use Norton Confidential until it is fixed ?

What benefits do you get by using Norton Confidential ?

Hi John, I'm just a user. I will speak with Norton to see what they say and to see if Confidential can be switched off and what are the consequences.

Thanks again.
