One of my users is having trouble with Firefox ESR 10.0.5 and Thunderbird ESR 10.0.5 in that they crash often and the only option is to reboot the system. The system logs show the following on launch:

Jul 9 10:45:40 system1 kernel: [ 240.627085] thunderbird-bin[5333]: segfault at 7f8eb9eaaa30 ip 00007f8eb9eaaa30 sp 00007fffd9ed1008 error 14 in libxpcom.so[7f8eba044000+4000] Jul 9 10:54:37 system1 kernel: [ 776.748205] firefox-bin[5467]: segfault at 7f22d7205a30 ip 00007f22d7205a30 sp 00007fffc6716768 error 14 in libxpcom.so[7f22d739f000+4000]

The system used is SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 SP2. This is completely puzzling because I've tried running firefox in safe mode, uninstalling any add-ons, creating a new account for the user, re-initializing profiles, etc. The applications were obtained from the Mozilla repository at http://download.opensuse.org

The installed browsers work fine for users on similar systems running the same OS and even other users on the same system....it's just this one user that seems to have problems.

Any advice gratefully received!

No idea about thunderbird crashes, I assume they have a similar sytem.

You seeem to have covered all the obvious things, so it seems odd you are unable to prevent the crashes.

What is usefull is the crash ID, obtainable by navigating to about:crashes

If you paste a couple of the recent crash IDs into your next message they may be used to access crash reports. You will possibly also find this of use,

As it is one user on a machine try saving the profile so that you may recreate it by migrating data later, but create and use a new clean profile. Anything odd in the .js or .cfg files ?

Do you also have that problem if you install the official release from the Mozilla server?
