There doesn't seem to be a plugin to use for firefox . I really don't want to use IE 6 7 8 or whatever . The plugin used is HiDvrOcx.cab. This plugin allows me to go to the web to see my security camers .

The Defender camera system is a SN502-4CH-002. Any help would be appreciated , Thanks, Garry.

I located the Quick Start Guide for that video security system online, and page 8 leads me to think that software probably uses an ActiveX component.

See the screenshot below where is says Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, which with video surveillance software usually indicates the use of ActiveX controls.

I didn't have the serial number for your particular system, so maybe I didn't get the correct manual. Newer systems may not use ActiveX, so the system can be monitored by a variety of operating systems / PC's. ActiveX controls eliminate all Mac and Linux users, plus Windows users who want to use a non-Trident / non-IE web browser. I suggest that you contact the manufacturer and ask if your particular system software needs ActiveX or not, and if it does, do they have a suitable NPAPI plugin available?
