My freind switched from AT&T to Cox Cable. She was told that "cable does not support Firefox and Thunderbird. She had to uninstall Firefox in order to get connected. Is this right? She lost all of her info in Thunderbird.

No, Cox shouldn't have a problem with Firefox or Thunderbird.
