Hi,

am I right that this problem still is not solved in FF?? Close tabs to the right is one of the most used functions for research professionals, but in FF you still have to use an add on to achieve this without driving around with your mouse to finally get into a sub menu??

Regards Stefano

Did you look in the tab context menu under "Close Multiple Tabs"?

Yes, exactly that's the problem.

Thanks.

I've updated the code in this reply to make the popup appear in the context menu when you hover "Close Multiple Tabs".

You can use the Browser Toolbox to filter for userClose and adjust the variables to make this work for you. You can double-click a value and use the up/down keys to adjust this value.

More info about userChrome.css/userContent.css in case you are not familiar: *https://www.userchrome.org/what-is-userchrome-css.html

In Firefox 69 and later you need to set this pref to true on the about:config page to enable userChrome.css and userContent.css in the chrome folder.

Hi,

not sure whether the problem is clear. One of the most used and most important functions for professionals with dozens of open tabs during a research is close tabs to the right. It is the problem, that you have to right click on a tab, than hover over "Close multiple tabs" and than click again. This is like needing three clicks to close FF or three clicks to open new tab...

Thanks and regards.

Why do you need three clicks ? I only need two clicks: one right-click to open the tab context menu and a second left-click to click the menu item that appears on hover.

(I've updated the code with #context_closeTabOptions:not([disabled]) to make it work only if the item is enabled)

Everyone's working style is different. Sometimes I use the menu, but usually I click the first tab to close and then Shift+click the last one, then either press Ctrl+w to close all the selected tabs at once or drag them off the tab bar to a separate window (if I'm done with them for now but now sure I'm completely done with them).

The Firefox UI designers seem to be following the modern trend toward shorter menus (fewer items), which drives the use of more sub-menus. I doubt that is going to change in the near future, so an add-on may be the best workaround for your needs.

This extension may suit you. It was mentioned as the solution in a similar thread.
