Whenever I visit Gmail on my desktop PC using Firefox under Windows 10, I get an annoying pop-up message asking me to 'Switch to the helpful Chrome browser' (see attached image capture). Is there a way to block this? I have tried a few suggestions found on forums but nothing works. uBlockOrigin doesn't help.

I get another equally annoying Google popup when I login to Twitter. Is there a way to stop those?

Contact Gmail support or Google support as this comes from them not Firefox. And if your homepage is Google . com then you will always see this come up. So it's up to Google to resolve this.

You should be able to block/hide such pop-ups with a content blocking extension like uBlock Origin.

If you read my original post... 'uBlockOrigin doesn't help.'

So it looks like it's just Google attempting to take over the world and there is nothing we can do about it other than stop using Google websites.

I find all pop-ups really annoying - especially those that repeatedly nag. Even the BBC website has them. It's no different to reading a book and whenever you turn the page, some annoying idiot shoves a note in front of what you are trying to read.

I don't see them. You may have to enable additional filters in uBO, for example, the annoyances filters AdGuard and uBlock Origin - Annoyances.
