Why do you always place a firefox shortcut on the dektop?

Everytime I update firefox browser I will have a new shortcut on the desktop for firefox. i do have a shortcut in the task bar, but I do NOT want a shortcut on the desktop. Everytime I need to remove the desktop shortcut manually (with Admin rights) with is really annoying.
