!PROBLEM SOLVED BY SWITCHING FROM GNOME TO UNITY!

Hello Firefox community, I've got one question I've done research on for a whole day now without finding any solution: Since I want to set up multitouch gestures on my Ubuntu 18.04 system, I need the Firefox shortcuts to work, especially the one for going back/forward in browser history, which by default should be Alt + left/right arrow (or Ctrl + [ / ], which does not work either). But pressing those keys does not have any effect. I tested it on a Macbook with the same Firefox version, there Alt + arrow worked. Can somebody help me finding a solution to fix this problem? Does this have something to do with Ubuntu? Thank you in advance for your help!
