Hulu requires that browser be open (not private) so they can play their commercial. With the Firefox mask icon missing in 57.1 what is the solution? Thank you

It's a Hulu site and they need cookies to know where the content is being sent to and they most likely track their users by that.

Always has been "missing" when the user selects Always use private browsing mode, there is no indication that Firefox is in the Private Browsing mode is that is selected.
So make sure that is not selected in Options / Preferences > Privacy & Security.
You can try to disable Tracking Protection in Private Browsing mode via the about:privatebrowsing page that opens in a New Private Window.
You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.
