Sorry that you lost your data, but Sync wasn't intended to be used with a solitary device when reinstalling the operating system.

Yes some people manage to pull "that" off, but we don't see successful reports of users doing that, we only hear about people losing their data when trying to use Sync in a not approved manner. "Sync" is short for "synchronize" with another device. With only one device, it's like clapping with one hand; good exercise, but that produces only a small air current but no noise.
