WAV files do not play in Firefox
Whenever I click on a WAV file in Firefox, it does not load using the player inside the browser and instead gives a download popup. However, it works fine if I click on files using other formats (like OGG files). I tried changing the settings inside the "Applications" part of the preferences but no option was given to "Preview in Firefox".

Try these two troubleshooting pages from Mozilla:

I can hear sounds and the built-in player functionality works with other files, but only not with WAV. Also disabled all add-ons to no avail.
Then maybe you don't have the right media player/codec installed. You don't need both, but at least one of them for certain formats like wave.
You can either
- install a fitting codec from this list; or
- install a media player that can play wave music files.
Since you use Linux, I can't recommend any players. Most don't work for Linux. You could also check the Firefox add-on page for a media player plugin (search for Linux).
