Even after clean install, Firefox v. 44 launches but does not display windows on MacBook running OS X 10.10.5.

The browser worked once as normal and after closing and reopening would no longer display windows or preferences or any other important components. It would show history, etc. from the application menu bar but not display the selected page. This also happened with the previous version. But it worked more than once after a clean install. Note, this version and previous versions work fine on iMac running the same system.
