How do I add my Microsoft e-mail account when I use Microsoft's two-step authentication?

I have logged into my Microsoft account and generated an app password there, and used that to try to add the account in Thunderbird, but that doesn't seem to work. I did try with just my normal password, also. Thanks! :)

disposable the two step authentication. Setup the account and re enable. Otherwise manually enter all the server and port information.

Thanks for that! What I did is to disable the two-step authentication, as you suggested, and that let me set up my existing account. Then I made sure that the checkbox to remember the password was unchecked, as I turned back on the two-step authentication. Now I simply log in to my Microsoft account and generate an app password for each time I log on. :)

The same app password should work over and over. You should not have to recreate it each time. Have you tried allowing Thunderbird to remember whatever is the current app password?
