We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

If Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article or the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

The crashes seem to occur in a plugin with the file name npTNT2.dll. Web searches suggest it is associated with a search toolbar (search.us.com) from a publisher named Freshy. It could also be associated with Tightrope Interactive.

It's a little hard to disable a plugin without starting Firefox, and since Firefox won't start, I suggest first trying to remove this thing through the Windows Control Panel if you can. Go to Uninstall a Program and after the list load, click "Installed on" to group items by date. Hopefully this will help you in spotting suspicious items that may have snuck in as part of a bundle. Take out as much trash as you can here.

After that, you could try using several of the cleaning tools in our support article Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These are free and take some time to run, so if they finish quickly and say you need to pay, you may have a more serious infection.

Finally... will Firefox start normally after the cleanup? If not, we'll have to move on to searching your hard drive for that dll file and removing it by hand.
