If I re-set Firefox, to cure a slow start-up, will I lose my ReminderFox files?

My start-up times are very slow; several minutes. I researched Mozilla, and saw that "reset" is the recommended solution.

I note that Bookmarks will be saved during the re-set process, but is the same true for ReminderFox?

I dare not risk losing all those Reminders and To Dos!

Resetting Firefox discards all add-ons and preferences, and therefore all their data as well. To keep your ReminderFox information,

  1. Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Add-ons.
  2. Click Extensions.
  3. Next to ReminderFox, click the Options button.
  4. Click the General tab.
  5. Click the Import/Export button, then the first Export button. Save your reminders and to-do lists somewhere handy, like the desktop.
  6. Click the Import/Export button, then the second Export button. Save your preferences somewhere handy, like the desktop.

Once you've reset Firefox, reinstall ReminderFox and restart Firefox. Afterwards, return to the aforementioned options window to import the data you saved earlier.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Does it help if you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear your personal data?

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
