Password manager in FF29 will not display saved passwords. I have gone through all the help files and the forum entries. I have the same problem on two separate computers (win7 64 Bit) which are not connected. Thee problem appeared with the installation of FF29. I need a fix or workaround.

What happens when you use the old steps to show the passwords?

(I have a Master Password set and I get prompted it for it once per session when clicking the Saved Passwords button and every time when clicking the Show Passwords button in that dialog.)

Check out; Saved Password Editor
Adds the ability to create and edit entries in the password manager.

Not sure I understand your question. What is the "old way?"

The keystrokes I use were in the original post title/topic.

Further efforts reveal none of the Password Manager Functions work.

"Saved Password Editor" extension opens the manager but can't open the passwords either.

So clicking "Show Passwords" does nothing, no error message, no nothing?

Do you use Firefox Sync to synchronize your passwords between the two computers?

more options

No error message, nothing.

Computers are not connected nor synced in any way.

Firefox sync never run.

I should have asked before: do the saved passwords still work, so you know they are there?

Did you have a master password set up? If so, did Firefox prompt you for it when you first clicked the Saved Passwords button?

In case this is a transient glitch, have you either:

  • exited and restarted Firefox
  • shut down and restarted Windows

since this began?

Yes. Created and saved a login and password for this site to post yesterday. It is working now.

Random selection of other sites indicates saved passwords exist and work.

No master password set on either machine.

Not a transient glitch.

Both machines have had FF shut down and restarted numerous times and have been shut down removed from power then restarted several times.

You can try to use the SQLite Manager extension to see if those missing password entries are in the signons.sqlite file.

I know passwords exist because they work.

Tried the extension. It confirms there is content in the database for passwords but I can't read it in plain text.

Do you see any entries with the SQLite Manager extension that look different (possibly have a missing name) and might be corrupted?

more options

All entries seem pretty consistent with no blank fields or overtly strange characters.
