I have been using TB happily for several years but had to reset my machine after booting problems and am in the process of rebuilding it. I downloaded TB and installed it and had it running for a day or two when I noticed that emails that were there the previus evening no longer were. I fiddle but couldn't find an answer do uninstalled, downloaded again and reinstalled. The same thing is happening again and today a bunch of unread emails disappeared before my eyes as I was reading one of them. One or two of them were vital but I have been quite unable to find them. What is going on and how can I prevent it?

Hi, I have worked through the checklist you sen, as well as I can, but there was nothing apparently out of place, except there was no "Messages" item on my view menu. In addition, I couldn't find the Checkfiles>Offline>Work offline menu item. How now please?

Are you saying

  • you didn't create a backup of your Thunderbird profile prior to resetting your Win 10 computer,
  • you didn't restore the old profile on the new machine, neither from a backup you created, nor from the backup Windows normally creates
  • you did set up your account(s) from scratch after installing Thunderbird again

Please confirm.

What's your account type now - POP or IMAP?

Was it the same on the previous Thunderbird installation?

What is your anti-virus software?

I have worked through the checklist you sen, as well as I can

What steps from the article did you do?
