The 'Message Header' is the area above where the message content of an opened email is displayed. It typically contains a set of buttons - Reply, Forward, Archive, Junk, Delete and More It shows From, To, Subject and Date It may show other information depending upon settings and type of email.

Do you find the spacing between eg: the 'From' line and the 'TO' line is too much? Do you want to reduce this gap? If yes, then the following information may solve your problem.

Several attributes disappeared with latest updates introducing supernova. I've found the CSS code #toolbar-menubar{order:-1 !important;} added to userChrome.css works to move the Menu bar to the top. I've tried several examples of CSS code to set tree rows eg Inbox to display alternate rows background white/grey, however, none seem to work. Any suggestions? Thank-you.

OSX Ventura 13.1, 102.9.0 (64-bit), Gmail imap, when Tbird applies filter to move message a strikethrough copy remains in inbox. A non strikethrough copy is in allmail. When I try to delete the ST copy in inbox it just removes the ST and the message remains. The left click menu delete works. None of these actions have any effect on the moved message. Messages are moved to Local Folders. When I select an unread message in the inbox it immediately changes to ST status. No messages have ST in Allmail. I tried to set the delete action to move messages to a "New trash" folder and most of the inbox vanished. The "Inbox" appears to be worthless and undependable. All I am trying to do is to have my filters work like they used to when I was using POP3. My wife's windoze machine is now having similar issues.

I have read the replies to similar queries with outgoing servers on Thunderbird but still seem to be doing something wrong.

I have 4 email accounts in Thunderbird - the first two are related to my website servers and the next two are a mail.com account and a gmail account and when I choose any of these accounts and look at the outgoing server it is always the same? I guess this is something to do with a default setting but I just can't seem to change it. The problem is when my website goes down or the firewall flips I lose all of my email and I want to keep the two independent email accounts separate.

Hi,

Is there absolutely no way I can download an add-on to use emoticons in my emails? I came across one that was supposed to be fine for version 102 but I tried it and it needs a signature? The ones I've looked at are nothing like the ones I had previously which mysteriously disappeared after I uploaded the latest version - which is now 102.1.2.

If you could tell me one way or the other, then I'll stop looking.

Thanks

Ann

I noticed that when I delete e-mails in Thunderbird, they are also deleting from Outlook.com. How do I prevent this?

Also, Thunderbird keeps asking me to compact messages. I think it keeps saying it will save space. Why is it doing this? I want the e-mails that download to be copies like Outlook was doing previously. How can I set Thunderbird to do this?

I recall that when I installed Thunderbird, it provided two options for server setup (POP e-mail, or IMAP). Yet I also seem to recall that the instructions that I looked at did not show the same setup for choosing that.

Either way, I want to know if it is an option to download as copies. If anyone uses iPhones, the interface for their default application allows to download a copy so that you do not have delete the email off of the server when you delete it in the application. It does save time and space if it is deleted at the same time, but sometimes, perhaps a user wants to remove something from one device, and not the other.

Like i can read it, but save it on the phone, but it allows it for a limited time. By downloading what i want through an external program, I can delete them from the server, but then save them on my desktop computer. If Office 2007 was not discontinued as compatible for Windows 10, i would have continued to use Outlook 2007. Unfortunately, they made it so I cannot, so I have been trying to migrate to Thunderbird.

I borrowed the trial of Office 365 to try to help migrate. but it is expired. i cannot keep buying since i am not in a position to purchase something like subscription software or a standalone suite.

I used to use Eudora, which Thunderbird is supposedly based on, but Eudora did a much better job of sorting out spam. Consequently, I also use filters.

Recently I have been getting a lot of spam with the word "Stimulus" in either the From field or the Subject field. So I set up a filter to send those emails to the Trash folder, but they are still arriving in my Inbox. Here are the settings of the filter:

- Manually Run - Getting New Mail: Filter before Junk Classification

- Match any of the following

- Subject - Contains - Stimulus - From - Contains - Stimulus

- Set Junk Status to - Junk - Mark As Read - Delete Message

Setting the "Junk Status" to "Junk" should automatically move those emails into the Trash folder, but it doesn't. So I added "Delete Message" further down to make sure it was taken out of the Inbox. But those spam emails are still being left in my Inbox.

Can you help? Thank you.

So, I upgraded to SuperNova and my spell checker no longer works. I removed and re-installed the dictionary extension, someplace I think it shows as installed and active. BUT it does not show my spelling mistakes as I compose an email, and when I go to send the spellchecker popup comes up with blanks. Any thoughts on what/how I can fix this. I "really" need a spellchecker.

I have a problem with Thunderbird (supernova) version on windows 10. I have the latest version 115.3.0 . Ever sense upgrading to the supernova version my menu bar with Get Messages, Address Book, Write have been on top of my page. With menu bar with File, Edit view, Go etc. below it on the second line. Now prior to going to the supernova version, those menu bars were switched. My laptop which is a windows 8.1 version has Thunderbird version 102.15.1 at the present time and it still shows the menu tool bars in the correct position with the Menu File, Edit, View etc. on top. But there is an update to 115.3.0 pending, which I am hesitant to do because of the problem above.

My question: Is there a way, after switching to the supernova version 115.3.0, to switch those menu bars back?

After the recent UP-Grade,

My Thunderbird wants to put every folder list of messages in a threaded version.

What is a default setting to STOP THAT!

I just want them displayed in a chronological way.

I know you are supposed to be able to set each folder that way, but it is hard to do and many times doesn't take or stick.

Plus I have hundreds of folders! UG!

There must be a default setting that NO THREADING. anytime, anywhere.

I just want all of my folders and sub-folders to have the same display columns! With 115, you can change any folder or sub-folder to any column organization you want, but I want them all the same. 115 changed my display columns - why couldn't you leave them alone, Thunderbird??? I can go in and change them back manually, so why were they changed at all??? I don't want to have to change each folder and its child folders individually - I have a few dozen folders, most with dozens of sub-folders. I tried the "Apply columns to ..." and selected Local Folders to change them all - none of them changed! I saw the video from Castellani claiming that TB tried to make sure that upgrading wouldn't take hours to reconfigure back to a usable state, but that's obviously not true if you have more than the one or two folders shown in the video.

Mozilla/Thunderbird -- Is it so hard to leave things as they are and just TELL us there are new features available, if we want them, instead of DESTROYING our well-used setups and forcing us to come here in hopes that someone can save us from hours of tedium just to be productive again?

Thanks to anyone who can save those of us who just want our setups back the way they were!
