Hi there! I started using firefox today and I've run into some issues, so I think I'll hopefully get my answers over here. My first issue was that firefox can't save my info for sites like youtube. What do I mean by this? Well I live in country [x] and I wanted to change my location on youtube from country [x] to united states (in order to get better recommendations), however, everytime I quit the youtube tab and opened a new one, my location would be set to my original location (meaning that the location change would last only when I change it and stay on the tab, not when I open a new one). My 'delete cookies' option is also disabled from settings and firefox shield is disabled for youtube. Also firefox keeps on messing and breaking up sites, and the weird thing is that shield isn't even enabled for those sites. By breaking I mean that the site doesn't fully function, and fonts and other things are also broken, and all of this is happening without the work of firefox shield, OR any other extensions I have. I'm on desktop with the latest version of firefox.

I was reading about Firefox 85 and "super cookies" and I have a question:

If you have Firefox set up to delete cookies when you close the browser -- is it going to delete the super cookies too?

I am just wondering because apparently these "super cookies" are stored in numerous locations... and I just wondered if Firefox is able to delete them all.

I don't want to wait and exit my entire browser to clear all cookies because I am using now "clear all cookies when to exit the browser"

The solution:

when we are visiting any website, rid of the cookies automatically and directly. ( after we finish it ). eat their cookies and then throw them in the trash.

Thanks.

I wanted to ask whether I can still use Enhanced Tracking Protection while still using Facebook Container and Multi-Account Containers. It looks like the option is not showing up in the preferences. Does use of ETF undermine using the other two? Which one is better to use? I don't want to lose the function of Facebook Container to block Facebook trackers from all the websites, but I also want other websites to be kept in separate containers as well.

In the "Cookies" Storage Type in Storage Inspector (Shift+F9):

Name Value ... ... csrftoken AB...c sessionid XY...z ... ...

However, in Web Console (Ctrl+Shift+K), if I execute console.log(document.cookie), the only thing I get is "csrftoken=AB...c". "sessionid=XY...z" is missing.

How can I get the sessionid of the cookie in Web Console?

Previous versions of FF allowed you to select individual cookies that wouldn't be deleted when FF closed. This meant you wouldn't have to log in to your favorite sites each time you opened FF; - you'd already be logged in. Later versions of FF no longer have this functionality. However, IE and Safari both do have this functionality. For example, I used to be able to keep my google cookies and browse straight into google reader after the browser opened. Now I always have to login. Does anyone know if the functionality will be restored to FF? The current lack of versatile cookie settings is a hindrance to efficiency.

(PS. Cor-el, please don't answer as you're wrong on this. The key messages are that FF used to have this functionality and plenty of other users agree, and IE and Safari still have it so go and check it yourself, and it has nothing to do with Clear Recent History.) Thanks all. :)

With firefox 17.0 Norton 360 does not pick up tracking cookies that were picked up with firefox 16.0.2. Uninstalled 17.0 and and reinstalled 16.0.2 - tracking cookies are picked up - updated to 17.0 and again no tracking cookies. I did not see anything in release note that would seem to reflect this situation. asked this question at 08:57 PST 11/29/2012 and the reply stated that Norton 360 should still be able to remove tracking cookies. WELL IT DOES NOT - WHAT HAS CHANGED FROM 16.0.2 TO 17.0 THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS. IS THIS A NEW BUG? The first reply did not answer my question however it was marked as "solved". I have rolled back to 16.0.2 and updated to 17.0 twice and the same thing has happened both times.

Although, the cookie exceptions for 17.0.1 is now working as in 16.0.2, I would like to put a copy of this file somewhere safe so if Foxfire updates and I loose the cookie exceptions, I don't have to re-create a new cookie exception list. I've looked in several places; user, me, apdata, and can't identify which file changes; Vista makes the search for the changed file (when I close 17.0.1) a little difficult.
