Is there a setting to always show the translation icon in the Firefox desktop address bar?

1. Scenario

I'm visiting a website that is not in my native language. For example, I natively speak English, and the website contains Spanish text.

The Spanish website incorrectly sets lang="en" in the HTML. Here's an example: https://animalessinhogar.com.uy/

My browser's default language is set to US English. When Firefox sees the Spanish webpage declaring the lang="en" tag, it assumes the webpage is in English, and hides the translation icon from the address bar.

1. Issue

The end result is I see this website in Spanish, there's no translation icon in the address bar, and also no way to force a full page translation. The best I can do is select parts of the text, right click, and ask for "Translation Selection to English". This gets very tedious, especially when I have automatic translations for Spanish websites already turned on (browser.translations.alwaysTranslateLanguages = es).

To work around these websites which mis-declare their language, is there a way to always show the translation icon in the address bar?

I had also thought of removing my browser's default language, so that the translation icon would always appear on every webpage. However, that would mean that websites that present different versions based on browser language wouldn't display my native language at first, or might not work at all? So this seems like a less good solution.

I'm having an issue where when you try to do things in-browser, Firefox freezes, puts up a grey screen and holds this way for a few seconds. Scrolling and video seem to trigger it most often. Repeatability is nominal; sometimes I have no problem, sometimes every action I try to take results in another fit of grey screens and freezing.

I'm using version 153.0.3 64bit on Windows 10.

For about a month I've had to use Chrome because my bookmarks scramble or become unoperatable, then about 4 days ago they started saving again & all bookmarks worked fine. This lasted about 3 days then went back to becoming dead or wrong (may all say 1 or 2) sites I visit. a restart may lose any new bookmarks, & the rest of my bookmarks are either wrong site or dead links. How do I correct? I have tried new downloads & the new Firefox acts just like the messed up version. Probably a simple setting but I give up, can't find the solution. Any help appreciated. In Firefox on my Android phone, when I type about:config in the address bar and press Go, it takes me to a description of that functionality, not the configuration page. I have tried DuckDuckGo, Chrome, and Bing, and they all do the same thing. How can I go to the about:config page?

My Firefox version is 152.0.5 (Build #2016171143). My phone is a Galaxy A32 5G, model SM-A326U, Android version 13, One UI version is 5.1.

The refresh button in my firefox desktop browser suddenly disappeared. One day the usage was normal, but on the next launch of the browser, there was no refresh button. I currently use the "F5" button to refresh but it would be better to use the button again.

I had like 10,000 open tabs (not exaggerating) and these tabs are gone after a blue screen error and a few Windows updates. I want to restore those tabs, but I can not because the "Restore the previous session" option is grayed out.

Are there ways to restore these open tabs?

If there isn't one, then I want to restore all the websites I have visited over the past few years and manually filter them.

How do I do it?

The Firefox library contains history but the oldest history it contains is 2024 December one. I guess the dedicated folder removed my old browsing history as it was filled up?

What I read is that places.sqlite file contains all the browsing history. Is this right? My places.sqlite file size is 80.0 MB (83,886,080 bytes). Is there a size limit on this file? I wonder if this file contains all my browsing history.

I have my places.sqlite file and DB Browser installed on my computer. But I don't know what to do next after opening places.sqlite file.

If there are better suited applications for my purpose than DB Browser, please recommend me one with a little instruction.

How do I install a PREVIOUS version of Firefox? I had version 149, and it auto updated on the 7'th. After that update, the problem began. The problem is, something in that update broke google maps as it's used on Realtor.com. It's impossible to drag the map with the mouse, I can zoom in or out with the scroll wheel, but then the area I want to look at is off the screen and I can't drag it back into view.

I downloaded version 149.0 and closed Firefox and tried to install it. BUT it starts, says it's checking space requirements and such, then the installer just stops... because version 149.0.2 is installed. I don't want to uninstall it because that'll wipe out all the settings I have and I'll have to redo every da*** thing from scratch.

I don't have time to wait weeks, months or years for enough people to report this bug and then developers fix the bug and roll out an update for it. I need to fix it now, tonight. And the only way I know to do that is to install the previous WORKING version of it.

Could someone please tell me how to force the installer to install version 149.0 WITHOUT having to uninstall version 149.0.2 and then having to redo every fricking thing...

The developers really should have a ROLLBACK utility in the Settings so that when something in an update breaks the functionality, all a user has to do is click the ROLLBACK button and boom, it reinstalls the previous version without having to jump through hoops to do it.

I do not have this problem in Chrome or any other browser, it's specific to Firefox. I do not like using Chrome or the other browsers I have. I much prefer to use Firefox. Someone please help with this, please!

Dropdown menu changed to "Translate selection to French. Has always been "Translate selection to English". I use it all the time. I don't think I changed anything. How can I set it back to English? Tried this: "To change the translation selection back to English in Firefox, go to the Language section in the General panel of Firefox settings, select English from the dropdown menu, and restart Firefox. This will revert the translation settings to English." Didn't work. System language is English (CA).

I have a new mac air and I had to set up a new Firefox/Mozzila account. Since then, I keep getting a Google sign in request. I have a Google email for websites that I don't really use, so am effectively a Google customer, but I prefer to not have this pop up every time I go to a website that has a sign in. Standard troubleshooting steps—like clearing Firefox's DNS cache, changing proxy settings to "No Proxy", turning off DNS over HTTPS (DoH), and flushing system DNS—do not resolve the issue.

Root Cause: Cisco AnyConnect locks low-level socket configurations and routing rules within the active Firefox user profile (prefs.js). Even after the VPN is disconnected, Firefox remains bound to the dead corporate pipeline, a behavior that standard settings menus cannot override.

Proven Solution: The only way to clear the corrupt VPN socket locks is to completely reset the internal profile architecture:Open Firefox, type about:support into the address bar, and press Enter.Look at the top right of the page and click the "Refresh Firefox..." button. Accept the prompt. Firefox will close, securely back up your bookmarks/passwords, generate a fresh profile, and restart.Internet access will instantly return to normal. (Note: You will just need to reinstall your extensions afterward).

Cannot connect to BBC Sounds web page (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds). Get the following error message: "The page isn’t redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

Have tried with and without a VPN, have cleared the cache, and shutdown/restarted Firefox, but no luck.

Connects without issue when using alternative browsers.

Firefox prompted me to update, I hit download, my entire PC froze, I restarted the computer, when I opened firefox again and hit "restore session" it restored a session that I had opened months ago. When I checked my history, everything after that older session had been deleted. All of my history from the past few months has been deleted. I tried a few different solutions from trying to research the problem, nothing so far has worked. The only thing I have found is a session restore error saying "could not decompress file", but I could not find the file it was attempting to decompress. This is the error message I found.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm one of those people that tends to have way too many tabs open at once due to poor memory, and losing months of tabs and progress is a huge setback. I'm very desperate to get the history and tabs back.

I am using Firefox on my computer, but WhatsApp Web is not working correctly. The page does not load properly, or some features are not functioning as expected. I have tried refreshing the page and restarting the browser, but the problem continues. Please help me fix this issue.

since my last update I am unable to access 4 web sites which I normally use.I have firefox ESR and am on windows 7. Edgesuite is blocking two of my sites, Sephora and Argos and QVC tells me they are unavailable. Scottish Power tells me there is a client error.

I'd like to report an issue with a recent Firefox update.

Since one of the latest updates, the "Close all duplicate tabs" option has disappeared from the tab list menu (the menu opened via the small arrow on the right side of the tab bar). I've looked for it elsewhere in the UI and haven't been able to find it.

System info:

Firefox version: 154.0 (64-bit) Operating system: Windows 10 Professional, version 22H2 (OS build 19045.7663)

This feature is particularly important to me because I regularly keep a very large number of tabs open — often several hundred, sometimes over a thousand — and being able to close all duplicates at once was essential for managing and cleaning that up.

A couple of things make me think this may be an unintentional regression rather than a deliberate change: Mozilla's own support article on the Tab overview menu still lists "Close all duplicate tabs" as part of this exact menu, and I couldn't find any mention of its removal in the release notes for the two most recent versions (153.0.3 and 154.0). That said, I haven't found an existing bug report that matches this, so I wanted to check here first.

I'd really appreciate help with the following:

Why has this option disappeared from the tab list menu? Is this an intentional change, or a bug/regression? Has the feature simply moved somewhere else in the UI? If it's a bug, is there already a tracked report I should follow, or should I file one?

I'm encountering some UI errors with the last couple updates. With an update from a couple weeks ago, I noticed when viewing PDFs in the browser, random characters would be invisible, and in Google Sheets I'd notice some cells appeared blank, though selecting them showed that there was text inside. I also noticed disappearing text in a Google Doc I was working on. Now with the update that was just released today (154.0) all PDFs, and entire screens in Sheets and Docs, and other random graphic elements, are showing up as just flat black (see attached screenshot). My job involves working with spreadsheets and PDFs a lot so this is severely impacting my workflow, and I am reluctantly working in a different browser today.

I did a browser refresh, and then I uninstalled and re-installed, and that didn't help anything. What should I try next?

I should note I am using Firefox on Windows 11. I am not experiencing any issues with Firefox on iOS or Mac OS.

Edit: I was able to troubleshoot and fix this by disabling hardware acceleration under performance settings. Problem solved!

Hey guys, so I always have a bunch of tab groups as it helps me organize my tabs. But every time I accidentally close Firefox or my pc resets, all the tab groups are gone. UNLIKE google chrome where, even if I close chrome they will be on the toolbar for me to open again. So could you please add this feature on firefox as well because this is getting very irritating because I have to open the individual tabs again and again? Thank you.

The SSL cert has been installed by the entity (Gridhost) from whom I have bought it for 20 years. And as explained, Firefox still shows it as Not Secure while Chrome say it is secure.
