Are the contacts in Thunderbird independent of the email account source? I recently migrated a set of email accounts to a new provider. There are now two the email accounts for each address; the new one, named like myemail@mydomain.org and the old one named like myemail@mydomain.org (old). When I eventually remove the "old" email account for each person from Thunderbird, is the address book with that name also going to vanish? The address book is named just like the email account; and the addresses were accumulated during the "old" address period. But I don't see anything in properties of either the address book or the email account in Thunderbird that directly links the two.

A few months ago Firefox decided to double space all the items in menus. Reading through the forums many people didn't like this because of the amount of space that the menus now take up. Fortunately there was a work around, by setting 'browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled to false they returned to normal

This morning Firefox my got upgraded and the double spacing problem is back again. However there appears to be a bug with the setting and the menus won't return to normal. I'm now stuck with stupidly large menus that won't fit on the screen and lots of painful scrolling.

Does anybody have an alternative workaround until this is fixed?

I have tried setting up Gmail within Thunderbird 78.x.y. After entering credentials, and going again through login to the Gmail popup window I reach a state which is shown in the attached image.

Google security options: 2 factor off, less secure apps on, Captcha refreshed but nothing helps.

I have restarted with add-ons disabled, but the problem persists.

I didn't have this problem with previous versions (with the same add-ons) until the latest two.

I have an Xfinity/Comcast POP email account through Thunderbird.

For years, I have reliably used the Download/Sync Now button under the Get/Send Messages tab to sync my email back to the server (i.e. delete emails from the server which I've trashed on the Thunderbird client).

Suddenly, out of the blue, and without changing any settings, this feature no longer works, and emails I delete on the Thunderbird client remain on the server.

I'd guess there's already a discussion regarding this, but I don't know where. Getting rid of the borders when there are multiple tabs open and turning things gray makes for a far worse browsing experience for me. Why would one string of undifferentiated text in a long line of tabs make things any easier? It does not.

I've found a helpful site that allows turning off the new theme, but a commenter advises that that option too will soon be disabled: https://www.askvg.com/tip-restore-old-classic-theme-and-ui-in-firefox-89-and-later-versions/

Is there an add-on that keeps the "classic" theme? I've googled how to provide feedback. One of those links is dead. What's the best way to make my thoughts known?

People love tech, but the older I get the more I see how it demonstrates a lack of ownership, that nothing is really yours on your devices, that what you're comfortable with is only one weekly update away.

I have been using Thunderbird email for numerous years.

At the end of June (2021) I started a summer-long vacation in another state, and prepared a laptop (Win 10) computer for the trip (with Thunderbird installed, of course.

Around July 5th I tried to peruse my email using Thunderbird on the laptop and was unsuccessful.... Zoho kept rejecting my email account password(s).... "login to server imap.zoho.com with username xxxx@xxxxx.com failed" (see attached)

I had the same issue with my account at gmail.com (Google mail) using Thunderbird. I have no other email accounts.

I assumed I had made some sort of mistake in the Thunderbird account settings on the laptop, but I had no way to compare the settings to my home computer (nobody there at my home and I was away on an extended trip)

Zoho was unable to assist me with Thunderbird. I assumed I did something wrong when I configured Thunderbird on the laptop and tried numerous parameter alterations without success.

I am able to access my email accounts at Zoho when I go to zoho.com directly, but compared to Thunderbird their interface is unwieldy and doesn't allow much screen space for email content (and, of course, I'm not able to save read emails to my Thunderbird local accounts).

I just returned from my extended trip and find that I now have the same issues on my home desktop computer, which was working fine when I left the last week of June. It (Thunderbird on my home desktop computer) also, rejects logins to my email accounts at Zoho and at Googlemail. Strangely, I can read new emails in the Thunderbird email accounts, but I am unable to reply to them or forward them.

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that an automatic update caused these issues. In fact, my home computer has a Thunderbird icon on the desktop that I'm not certain was there before (I keep most of my important program icons in program category folders on my desktop and in my quick-access bar at the bottom of my Win 10 desktop screen... so if an icon shows up on my desktop, I assume it is because of a product update). I am currently at Thunderbird 78.14.0 (64-bit).

I am trying to think of ways I can verify that an automatic update caused the issue.

I am able to log in to my email accounts by directly using zoho.com or google.com, but much prefer Thunderbird. I am hoping for suggestions as to why neither of my Thunderbird copies (desktop and laptop) are able to log in to receive email.

Thoughts and suggestions????

I tried to input my daily schedule and that went fine. I then restarted Thunderbird to see if that would work all the information I had just input was gone.

The upgrade was automatic per your recommendation but now all of my calendar records are gone. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might be able to restore them? Also the first day of the upgrade, 9-30, the "today's pane" was there but on 10-1 it was not.

I called GoDaddy to ask them about the spam and we have gone into my webmail together and none of the spam emails are in webmail, so they say the problem has to be with Thunderbird. I am running Thunderbird 91.1.2 that was oddly installed today on 10/8/2021, but I don't believe I was ever asked to downloaded. Since the 3 hours of spam and now, I have shut down my computer once and so I am not sure if I was running version 91.1.2 before or after the shut down. I did get a webpage pop up when my computer restarted that said what is NEW in version 91. I am running Windows 7 OS, service pack 1. Please need help asap, as the spam emails keep coming more than 1 per second! Currently I have shut down the software, but I do need to reply to people. This is my work email and very important. I have used TB for about 10 years and never had this issue before. I have many email folders setup over the years. I would be very disappointed and saddened to need to uninstall and re-install everything, and might I lose my emails to redo everything? GoDaddy almost migrated my email from Linux I think to Office 365 about 10 hours before the spam emails started. It does seem slightly supicious that these 2 events are related, but go Daddy said they dod not think the issues were connected and just happen to be coincidental? Thanks so much

The last update, 91.2.0, did not install correctly, and I could not send emails. After Uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling, Uninstalling McAfee, and resetting the Windows Defender, I still can not send emails. The latest update is installed. I can receive emails. I really don't want to switch to a different email "bundler," but I have spent 2 days, enlisted an IT professional and am at my wits end.

I downloaded the importexportNG tool and set up a local folder with all my backed up emails as an mbox from google takeout. The folder appears and populates all the number of unread messages (80,500) next to the folder but when I click into the folder the emails are not populated there. It's just the Local Folders screen with some tabs for accounts and advanced features but no actual emails populate.

I see the loading circle is spinning and at het bottom the green load bar is at 50% but it's been this way for 1.5 hours now.

Anyone have any idea? I'm afraid to back out and then realize that it will have to reload entirely again.

When I log on to Thunderbird I receive a message saying, " Server at imap.earthlink.net has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." My email continues to work but it is a little slower. I checked with Earthlink and they say everthing is OK on their side and suggested that I may need a Thunderbird software upgrade.
