I switched browsers from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. I need to uninstall some unnecessary programs to increase space on my computer. Can I uninstall IE without losing important documents? All of my favorites seem to have been transferred over, however I'm not quite sure because it wasn't done manually. Is that possible?

hello Ldes, you appear to be posting from windows xp - internet explorer is built-in deeply into this operating system, so it isn't possible to remove it at all (this option was only added by microsoft in later versions of windows).

Yes, IE continue installed in your computer, yes is possible to unistall, but some programs use IE to process datas, etc... but follow the link:

In that link you see how to unistall i get a link to a tutorial to unistall IE8 because i dont know what is your version, but the process is the same to other versions

Thank you for your feedback. Your information appears to be the most logical, however it doesn't solve my problem with needing to free up space. IE is the only program I could eliminate. The rest I need. But again, thank you for your time and helpful information.

have you tried using the windows disk cleanup tool yet? especially clearing old restore points should free quite a bit of storage...
