Most of my icons are blank in my bookmarks, next to the website I got a new computer With win 7 and imported them from my old computer. I've deleted some of the websites and relaoded them, still blank, for example BB&T bank. I've installed the plugin that's supposed to correct this. From a Google search I'm not the only one having a problem with this. This is driving me nuts. All the icons, or what ever they are called show up in IE, and my old computer This has to be something simple Thanks Karen

It always happens. Firefox saves only links not icons. if you need icons Goto Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Unsorted Bookmarks. Now select all the bookmarks and open it in new tab. Just wait for a minute all icons ll be enabled and close your firefox and open it. Now your Bookmarks with icons.

The favicons are stored as binary (BLOB) data in the places.sqlite file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

You will have to use the bookmark and visit the website to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Thanks, but way to much trouble and more than I'm willing to do.

Had a friend come over last night and he removed this version along with everything in my profile. He then installed my older version, 3. something and imported my bookmarks and all the icons showed up as they should, he said there is a bug in this newer version and put it back on for me. I'll use it for awhile, but will probably go back to the old version. I don't really see any improvements in this anyway. Thanks for your help

That's the version I'm using, but thanks for your help. For what I do, I don't see any improvements, I'm going back to 3 Thanks again

You can try to reset Firefox.

If you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some of your data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data).

You can recover more data from the old profile (be cautious with doing that).
