Scan images from inside Firefox 15.0.1?

I'm running Firefox 15.0.1 under XP Pro SP3. I usually use Gmail.

I occasionally have a need to send scanned images as attachments to email messages. Gmail only accepts disk files as attachments (OK, URLs too). I currently:

  • launch another process capable of relating to my TWAIN scanner;
  • scan the desired image into that process;
  • save it as a file;
  • return to Firefox/gmail;
  • attach that file to the waiting email and send it.

This works fine.

But I'm lazy. Is there an existing plug-in that can do this all within Firefox? Is there some reason that Firefox can't do this?

Please don't tell me to ask kiss-of-death Google. (They would just ignore me, and besides, there are many other email clients that share Gmail's behavior here....)

Many thanks.

Sorry, Firefox doesn't have anything like that built-in. And I have never seen a plugin which would add a feature like that to a web browser.

  • Printed docs and images must be scanned and saved just as you are doing.
  • If you want to send a screenshot of a web page, install a screenshot Add-on, save the image to your hard drive, or on a web site that accepts and stores your images, and send that image.

Do you have an example of a browser with that built-in funtionality?

A few Firefox screenshot Add-ons - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=screenshot
