A few suggestions:

(1) Disable Firefox's hardware graphics acceleration.

It might already be disabled, but that information is not shown next to your post.

You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

(2) Disable Protected Mode in Flash

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11 update and possibly try these:

• disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
• disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
• downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3

I was able to turn off hardware acceleration in firefox.

No help

and when accessing the flash support page the warning window was so pervasive it prevented any abilities there.

I currently have flash and it's active x component removed but unable to find an older version to download and use

Just to confirm, Firefox is not crashing, only the Flash player is crashing. (This is how it's supposed to work when a plugin crashes, but just wanted to make sure.)

I've got 10.3 flash running on it now and hope for the best. I thought these days had past long ago. \ I'll close the thread and hope for the best.

I woke up with what I believe to be a trojan called consent.exe running that might have been a process or the beginnings of this mornings fight.

Not sure if it was running during yesterdays updates.

I have the same problem with Firefox 15 and Adobe Flash 11.4 on my Vista laptop. I get it hen I go online to check my Yahoo mail. All the suggestions have not helped but if I go to Adobe first and check my flash version it will start and then it works in Yahoo. I do not have this problem with my Windows 7 Home premium x64, just with my 32 bit machines. Everything was working fine until the update to Firefox 15 and works fine if I verify Flash with Adobe before I go to Yahoo. Since it works properly on my 7 x64 system and works if I start it first on Adobes site I wonder if it is a conflict with the pages from Yahoo? Any ideas? Thanks.

The computer, as it turns out is viral and at the shop getting exorcised. Window defender found a bunch of things (it was the only one of avg,threatfire, and itself) I tried to fire up malwarebytes but it was questionable if that would run. I'm on 7 now on this computer and will wait a while till I get back to running the latest firefox w/flash on that one ( it had a bunch of java exploits) (recent keystroker) and a trojan I found but still exhibited a bunch of unknowns running in task manager. I'll close this thred now

this is how ya could fix the freezing

on a x86 system :

1 - browse to " C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash"

2 - now copy these 3 files (NPSWF32_11_x_xxx_xx.dll - FlashPlayerPlugin_11_x_xxx_xx.exe - flashplayer.xpt)

2 - now browser to firefox folder and paste those 3 files in to the plugins folder ( if there is not such a folder then create it)

3 - uninstall your adobe flash player http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

4 - restart firefox

5 - install flash player for internet explorer again
