This is not the first time I have had a similar issue with a patch not being able to be installed due to a patch failure. I do not understand why you all have such issues.

I've used FireFox for my browser for some time now and prefer it over others. Even with the issues not working with my Norton 360 temporarily, it still is better than other browsers.

I have a quad core and am using Windows 7 Ultimate. Would be nice to find out more.

That might be a problem with your particular computer or it might be caused by Norton.

I've never had a problem using firefox. Norton sometimes is not updated until after FireFox is because most often I lose my norton information bar on the browser. But the Firefox usually works just fine if the patcher works. I end up having to contact Norton because their software is just disabled by FireFox updates on occasions.

Unfortunately your answer does not equate to my earlier experiences because the earlier issues occurred before I had even installed Norton. So that does not wash..sorry.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

  • Uninstall your current Firefox version.
  • Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

It appears a new patch was provided today. I just got it to update fine without any hitch. I did not, however, actually download anything, so apparently someone at FireFox submitted a new patch which worked.

So much for oddities...I worked w/programmers for several years so I learned that somethings are errors at launch for very small reasons.. the programmers find the glitches and fix them but do not always notify anyone they made a correction. lol...
