Every time I try to open Firefox now the UAC prompt comes up asking for permision to make changes to my computer and my firefox pages' home icon is now yellow, why?

I recently updated to Firefox 3.6.17. Afterward I closed Firefox and when I tried to open it again I got the "Firefox is already running, restart your computer to open" message. So I restarted and when I tried to open Firefox I got the UAC "permission to make changes to this computer" message with the shield and I clicked yes. when I tried again Firefox came up and when it did my home (the house) icon was yellow instead of its ordinary blue, Now whenever I close Firefox I then always get the "permission to make changes to this computer" with the shield message whenever I try to open Firefox again. Why and how do I stop that from happening? And why is the home (the house) icon yellow now? Is that normal?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.

This fixed my problem. When I checked the compatibility tab under Properties for Firefox the "Run this program as Administrator" was not selected. However I did then notice the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" had "Windows XP Service Pack 2" selected. My computer has and has always had Windows 7 Starter so I'm not sure how that happened. But I changed it by selecting Windows 7 and clicking OK. That solved the problem. I closed FireFox and when I reopened it I did not get the UAC "permission to make changes to this computer" message with the shield anymore and FireFox opened normally as it should. Also my Home (the house) icon is once again blue (not yellow) as it should be. There were also some other minor graphics changes that reverted back to their previous, correct state. It seems that FireFox 3.6.17 is an upgrade for Windows XP users. That may explain why and how the 3.6.17 upgrade used the compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2. Why I was offered that upgrade despite my being a Windows 7 user, I don't know. So I assume that I am now back to using FireFox 3.6.15. So even though the "running FireFox as Administrator" theory was off. Your advice to check the FireFox "Properties" led me to the cause of my problem and ultimately the solution. Thank you very much.
