Is the newer Firefox version compatible with all Mac? My last download said it was not.
I have MAC OS X 10.4.11

See:
No, Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

I got caught by this. TonyE helped me out (see my question on the forum which I posted before seeing this thread: here). He directed me to the old Firefox versions page: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
I downloaded my language version, opened the .dmg whatsit, dragged the icon to the application icon in the Finder window, said ok to replacing "older" FF.
Now I'm back to where I was and with all my bookmarks !!
I'm Running TenFourFox on my iBook G4 OSX 10.5.8 successfully after a disastrous download of the latest FireFox. It was (is still being) touted as the latest and greatest with little or no pre-warning that it does not run on older Power-PC Hardware.
Yes, when ready to install there was the universal "Slash NOGO" Warning Symbol. However, I had just fixed a Can't install, shut-down Firefox Error Msg. So, I proceeded with the new install -- only to wind up with nothing.
What to do ??? Fortunately, Mac's Safari is always there and works fine, getting me back here.
I found TenFourFox -- a private adaptation of Firefox's open source code that DOES run on OSX-10.5.8. It's 90% Firefox + 10% Customization -- or somesuch.
TenFourFox downloaded just fine; and I've been running it just fine for several weeks. All my history and tabs and favorites, etc. etc. were and are available -- I don't believe I lost anything.
TenFourFox IS Firefox customized for our (older) processor. That is a huge benefit of "Open Source Code." And, thanks to the folks at TenFour.
I've been running Firefox for years, and totally appreciate and support Moxilla's efforts -- even though they sure dropped the ball on this one. Fortunately, I'm mid-skilled barely technically able to get through this.
If you read this and have an older G4 Power-PC (OSX-10.5.8), TenFourFox (see links elsewhere) seems to be an easy and reliable solution to your problem. It is also possible to download and drop back to a previous version of Mozilla Firefox (see links elsewhere).
I'm just thankful that I have a solution; it coulda been a whole lot worse. Movin-on, --jim
