Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Hello Mike.

I've seen people with this issue before, and I've had it myself. I read that reinstalling Firefox (no data is lost) fixes the problem, but I think clearing the browsing cache fixes it too. I cannot confirm this though, so please tell me the results.

I tried both methods, and FireFox will still not remember the passwords. I remember a few versions back, this was not a problem.

Should I complete uninstall and then re-install FireFox? I am concerned about losing data.

Please don't uninstall completely. That's never a solution, and it will loose your data. Try a new profile ( http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles ) to see if it has the same problem, if you want to know if completely reinstalling will fix the issue. What completely reinstalling does is create a new profile and erase your current one. You can do that without erasing your current one.

Did you tick the box on the Yahoo log in page to remember you? In such cases a special cookie is created and you need to remove the Yahoo! cookies.

If the name stays the same and you only need to change (update) the stored password then fill the name in the login form and let Firefox fill the wrong password. You may have to press the Tab key to fill the password field. If you replace the wrong password with the new password then Firefox should offer to store the new password. Use the Remember Password bookmarklet on websites that use "autocomplete=off" to prevent Firefox from saving passwords. You can verify that Firefox has stored the new password: Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords" If that didn't work then remove that name and password in the Password Manager and Firefox should offer to save the new password on the next visit or after reloading the login page.

Here's how I fixed this issue (2 steps):

1. Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords > highlight the website you want Firefox to forget the old password to > Remove > Close.

2. Back to the Tools > Options > Security window, click the Exceptions button to the right of "remember passwords for sites" > find the website you want Firefox to remember the new password for > Remove > Close.

Now you can navigate to the site, type in your username and new password, login, and Firefox will ask you if you want to save the password.
