Unread Message Count Badge has gone missing

Until recently my Thunderbird displayed a red count badge showing the number of unread messages. This badge has disappeared sometime during the last few days. I have been unable to fix it.

I have made sure the "Show Badge Icon" box is checked in the "App Icon Options" setting.

I am running Thunderbird 115.8.1 (32-bit). (PS: I am not sure why it is the 32-bit version).
