Move cache folder in thunderbird 102.11.0

I would like to move the Thunderbird caches to a dedicated folder.

I have moved my profile into a dedicated folder to back it up together with all my other data. This happens via automated file change detection. To keep the configuration of the backup solution simple and robust, but also save on unnecessary work and data transfer, I would like the cache folder to not be in the profile folder.

To achieve this, I have tried the "browser.cache.disk.parent_directory" config string. This does not appear to work - on startup it did not create any files in the specified directory, nor did it create the directory when I deleted the prepared directory.

Is there a way to move the cache? Did I maybe just make a mistake?
