This message appears in small blue lettering, unlike the rest of the page. I do not have an organization. Mine is a personal computer for just my personal stuff. I tried to find answers in previous posts and all I found were posts saying this was something done by Avast. I do not use Avast. I am an older user and don't understand much, so talk to me like you would if you were writing the Dummies books. What is this thing and how do I get rid of it? It appeared another time long ago. Later disappeared. Have I been hacked? Is someone else controlling my computer? HELP1 I am running Windows 7 Home premium and not changing it. My computer is an older Dell business machine. Its been pretty clean, not had any incidents.

What security software do you have?

Seeing the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" notification at the top of the Settings page is in most cases caused by security software that uses GPO policy rules (ImportEnterpriseRoots) to inject their root certificate in Firefox to be able to intercept and scan your internet traffic.

You can click the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" notification or open the about:policies page to see if policies are active and if errors are reported.

I don't think you read my full request for help. I said I am an older person, elderly, and stressed that I hardly understand computers. I don't have an organization, my computer I told about in my post, is just for me, my personal stuff. The only thing I understood of your post was your asking what security software I have. It is all old programs I have had a long time, and they have never done this. I have windows defender, and eset online scanner, which is just a thing I run at will to catch anything defender doesn't. It is not a full malware or virus program, it just scans when I click on it. So everything else you said is Greek to me, so no, it doesn't solve my problem. I'm sorry. But if someone could just answer my questions in layman's terms, at least tell me if I've been hacked or if my computer is under my control or whatever this organization is, I'd appreciate it. I just want to get rid of this thing.
