After Update: New mail window shows no contacts in recipient field

more options

Hey there, I updated thunderbird some while ago to 102.5.0 (32-Bit). After some time, I noticed that I don't get my any contacts from my address book shown in the recipient field of my new mail window.

Does anyone have an idea what happened? I changed nothing in my settings, and it worked before the update.

Thanks

Hey there,

I checked my address book and made sure the contact I tried had all info (name, surname, nickname, email) available. It didn't show. When I created a new contact in the local address book (which is usually empty because I use my nextcloud address book) the contact was shown in new email. So the conflict seems to be with showing the contacts from my nextcloud address book. I made sure that the nextcloud address book is the standard one (see previous screenshots).

But i found the SOLUTION: I installed an addon called "CardBook". Afterwards, my contacts are shown again. So the problem itself isn't solved, but I found another way to solve it for me.

Thanks for your help. :)

Hey there,

I booted thunderbird in safe mode and nothing changed regarding the address book entering. I booted with all addons deactivated and still nothing changed.

Thanks, Mi

Hello there again.

except that the address book enters your complete email address that must be entered, it may now have become a mountain of nicknames and it does not fall under the email address box but with the nicknames

First have a look at this before we proceed with this issue.

We also can have a damaged adressbook?

Hello there

we mean there are a lot of misplaced entries under address book list names so they don't match the mountain of email addresses that really should have been there. Can you check these.

Hello there again.

Okay well are you satisfied with thunderbird. This solution will get you back on track as you continue to use it. Now I can offer you a workaround for trying to see if this fixes the behavior you describe about our or other address books that come with Thunderd software. This one is that maybe there is some damage to the behavior with this one.

I'm not saying it's a profile corruption but it could be do you still have time to fix this so that we can resolve the real issue you have with your thunderbird?

I'd be happy to resolve the real issue if you have an idea where the root of the problem lies.

Hello there again.

We cannot install a system or install software at your place.

But we can make a diagnosis and try to solve it together with you.

Did you heard about add ons? Try to use one https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/

the automatic deactivation of tools or sidebars during an update can also be disabled.

Hello there.

Yes, using the normal thunderbird address book you will just have to fill in or copy from your previous separate address books. (complete addresses in email style no abbreviations etc.) The security of our new 102.0 version of Thunderbird has been improved to ipv6 for address books internally? And can be used normally.

Yes What is New ,Cardbook.

https://addons.thunderbird.net/nl/thunderbird/addon/cardbook/

it could be possible that some changes that can be used in Thunderbird software are no longer found in your other so-called address books of other kind of named peer.

Hello there missmi

The topic that occurs here can indeed be found in the version 102.4.2. The situation is described as a bug free release of the 102.0 versions. But it has already been written that there is a change to the address books. The new address books in these versions of Thunderbird are created using Carddav instead of local address books. The change does not affect existing address books.

It will be your address book that you use. As you described is not accepted with the topic in use with the version you are using .
