Upgrading my Linux install to a current version, and in so doing, discovered newer versions of both Firefox and Thunderbird totally disregard title bars and other window decorations. As I run Fluxbox, those are kinda necessary, and the browser and email client both lack essential elements like a close button without them. Many, MANY suggestions to check the "Customize..." but, that doesn't seem to exist in 101? What exists instead is "Customize Toolbar...", which does not have the little checkbox in the lower left corner to re-enable the title bar.

Any suggestions?

Are the browser and email client provided by Fluxbox? If so, your question may need to be addressed there. You should be able to get window controls in Firefox at least (possibly Thunderbird as well) by adding the following preference in about:config as a number and giving it the value 1: browser.tabs.inTitlebar

The browser and email client are provided by Mozilla. Fluxbox is simply the window manager I'm using in Linux. These are the only two items that have this issue, and I seem to recall Firefox having the same issue previously; however, it was, at the time, a relatively easy fix. I know Mozilla has been really keen on getting rid of title bars, and they're not the only ones; however, they're presently the only ones (thus far) that have made their Linux releases problematic as a result.

Unfortunately, while that particular config preference did actually *help* in Thunderbird (it didn't solve the base problem, but it did at least provide the missing buttons that would otherwise be present in the title bar), it did precisely nothing in Firefox.

And after some further searching, apparently it IS a bug with Fluxbox. While a patch was released, Fluxbox itself has not released an updated version to reflect this, and unfortunately I'm not sure how to apply the patch. But, that's not a Mozilla problem.

The preference has worked for me in Firefox for at least many months. Version 100 still has the title bar although I have long ago hidden it.
